Two people lost their lives, and 11 were injured in a Madden NFL 19 tournament. A competitor opened fire during the tournament before taking his own life. Other players had said the gunman was acting weird all weekend, and did not talk to anyone else. One competitor believed the shooter was targeting people who he lost to in the tournament.

It made $310 million in first day sales between North America, and the UK. Not everyone was celebrating as IW studio heads, Vince Zampella, and Jason West were fired by their publisher. A two year-long legal warfare would ensue between the duo and Activision.
